Wednesday showed America at its ugliest We must move forward

Print article On Wednesday, I looked at the ugliness unfolding in our capital and what did I see? Racism. Colonization. Slavery. They manifested in my mind’s eye as I witnessed the fear and desperation of those who have chosen to embrace the myth of white supremacy. This is not and has never been just about an election. It is not about Democrat vs. Republican, left vs. right. In our recent history, this society and many other parts of the world have undertaken the painful and beautiful struggle for a more dignified human existence. This struggle was raised by our ancestors who fought for sovereignty, for civil rights, for recognition as human beings in the face of the tide of white supremacy that swept across our lands in the forms of colonization and slavery. This struggle has been carried forward by every generation since. While we remain far from the equitable, accountable and just society we should be, this struggle has changed the world and will continue to do so.

New evaluation boards from GaN Systems

New evaluation boards from GaN Systems GaN Systems has launched several new evaluation boards – the latest with MinDCet, a power semiconductor design house, for a 100V Half-Bridge evaluation kit. The 100V Half-Bridge evaluation kit provides testing capabilities for quick implementation and demonstrates the ease-of-use, high performance, and flexibility of GaN transistor and driver combinations. The evaluation kit includes the MinDCet MDC901 GaN driver and two GaN Systems GS61008P E-mode GaN power transistors that are connected in a high-side, low-side configuration as well as all the necessary drive circuitry. The 100V Half-Bridge evaluation kit is used to evaluate GaN in various converter applications including, highly efficient server PoL converters, high-voltage pulsers for MEMS (e.g., ultrasound transducers, MEMS switches), high precision motor control, DC/DC converters, AC/DC converters, and Class-D audio amplifiers.

STMicroelectronics extends MasterGaN family

STMicroelectronics extends MasterGaN family STMicroelectronics has extended its MasterGaN platform with the unveiling of the MasterGaN2. The device is the first in the new family to contain two asymmetric gallium-nitride (GaN) transistors, delivering an integrated solution that s suited to soft-switching and active-rectification converter topologies. The 650V normally-off GaN transistors have on-resistance (RDS(on)) of 150mΩ and 225mΩ. Each is combined with an optimised gate driver, helping to simplify the use of GaN technology. By combining advanced integration with GaN’s inherent performance advantages, MasterGaN2 has been designed to further extend the efficiency gains, size reduction, and weight savings of topologies such as active clamp flyback.
